Turkish delights: Istan-brill breaks in the city where East meets West

It's Sunday morning... I’m walking down a traffic-free street in the Taksim district of Istanbul. The shops are open and the place is awash with people enjoying themselves.
Cute, old-fashioned, single-carriage trams are trundling down the middle of the road. Last night one had a live jazz band on board – “to help people feel happy” our guide told us.
