China, EU 2012 scrap usage in steelmaking down; US, Turkey up

China and the EU used considerably less ferrous scrap in steelmaking in 2012 compared with 2011, while Turkey strengthened its position as the largest global importer of the raw material as the US melted more scrap, statistics published Monday by the Bureau of International Recycling show.
