Sex crimes against Turkish women rising at alarming rate

Thursday, November 8. Doğan News Agency, and Hurriyet Daily News reported that Turkish Prosecutor Veli San acknowledged that over the past 9 years sex crimes in Turkey have increased 400 percent, with 32,988 open cases in 2011 as compared to 8,146 in 2002. Previously Today’s Zaman had reported that the leading cause of death for women ages 15-44 is Gender-based violence.
