Turkey gets tennis lesson at WTA championship

The WTA Tour’s year-end championship, held for the first time in Istanbul, Turkey last week, was a major success.
The total attendance of 70,824 for the five-day event was by far the highest since the event’s ill-fated move a decade ago out of New York’s Madison Square Garden, and off to whatever city dangled the biggest cheque.
