ISTANBUL, Nov 14 (IPS) - In a rare and risky decision, a 34-year-old Turkish woman appeared on a national television show last week and openly announced she had been subjected to child abuse and later forced into a marriage arranged by the family.
Fearing retribution, she hid her identity and wore a wig and sunglasses. But she lived just three days after that appearance before she was gunned down by her father, who recognised her on the show. He told police she had brought shame on the family."
