The idea of accessories in men's fashion is a little outdated in today's top-of-the-line clothing stores. However, throughout the history of Anatolia and the Ottoman Empire jewelry was an important part of self-adornment for men. Priests across the eastern world had their own jewelry consisting of elaborate necklaces, earrings and bracelets. During Anatolia's Lydian period, soldiers wore earrings from fired clay. In 547, when the Persians came through Anatolia, the amount and variation of men's jewelry increased dramatically. During the Middle Ages, Europeans used medallions, earrings and rings. Ottoman padishahs were also just as addicted to jewelry as were women."
