Commission expects Turkey to be constructive on Cyprus
Nicosia, Jul 15 (CNA) -- The European Commission expects Turkey to be constructive in solving the Cyprus problem, to normalise its relations with the ten new member states and to lift the restrictions on Cyprus flagged vessels, Head of the European Commission representation to Cyprus Adriaan Van der Meer has said, stressing that Turkey needs to sign the Protocol to extend the Customs Union to EU 25 before 3 October.
Speaking today at the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, in the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus, Van der Meer said no efforts should be spared to reach a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem."
