BRUSSELS, Belgium (UPI) -- Cem Ozdemir was the first politician of Turkish origin to enter mainstream German politics in 1994. After two stints as a Green deputy in the Bundestag, the son of Turkish guest workers was a Trans-Atlantic Fellow of the German Marshall Fund in Washington before becoming a member of the European Parliament last year."
