France and the Netherlands must have surprised Europeans as well Turks. For the average man on the street, it does not sound that rational to halt a process you have initiated and a document you have prepared. For the average Turk, this is more so because she/he took the European Union more seriously as the most advanced project of the civilization group she/he identified with. Now it seems clearer that even some Europeans themselves are not sure or ready to go ahead with the way the union has taken shape that is actually their brainchild. "
