AKP officials deny any studies on the headscarf issue, while an AKP deputy says meetings had taken place on the matter months ago

Ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies have denied Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements concerning research undertaken by the party on ways to resolve the headscarf issue, while the AKP deputy from Ankara, Haluk Ipek, said the party had held meetings with individuals experienced on the issue in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir a few months ago.
Answering journalists' questions, AKP parliamentary group deputy leaders Faruk �elik and Ey�p Fatsa said on Tuesday that the party had not conducted any special studies on the matter. "
