"The 'Turkish Model' for Iraq?
Turkey opens a fresh page on Iraqi policy. A Turkish envoy headed by Osman Koruturk, Turkish Special Representative to Iraq, held a meeting with Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani the previous day in Suleimania, Northern Iraq. The meeting atmosphere was reportedly warm and friendly more than expected. Talabani, one of the strong candidate for Iraqi Presidency, told that he shares the same concerns with Turkey on the future of the country and the region. He maintains that their priority is to establish a secular and democratic system in Iraq. He also specifically emphasised that their role model is secular and democratic Turkey."
