Turkey's possible membership in the European Union stands as one of the major reasons for the French people's opposition to the EU draft constitution, a recently conducted opinion poll showed.
The poll, published in France's daily Liberation newspaper, revealed that 61 percent of the French would vote for the EU constitution, while 39 percent would reject it in a referendum due by July -- an outcome that would threaten the treaty because it requires the approval of all 25 member states. "
