Where are the Kurds Making a Mistake?

"Where are the Kurds Making a Mistake?
Iraqi Kurds conducted an independence poll during the 'de facto' January 30 elections. According to the announcement made, only two percent of the people said 'no' to an 'independent Kurdistan.'
The city of Kerkuk (Kirkuk) was shown to be in 'Kurdistan,' on the maps that were distributed during the referendum.
Kirkuk has been the greatest dream of the Kurds ever since Mullah Mustafa Barzani returned from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in 1958. The city that produces 72 percent of Iraq's oil is the only way that Kurdistan can survive financially. In fact, Mullah Barzani showed his determination by saying, 'Even if there is no Kurd in Kirkuk, it should be part of Kurdistan.' "
