The Turkish lira rose to a three-year high against the dollar on Tuesday while the shares fell on further profit-taking after last week's IMF criticism of the government's plans to broaden investment incentives.
The lira closed at 1.2965 on the interbank market, after touching a mid-day trading peak at 1.2950, the highest since April 2002. Official exchange rates show the lira has appreciated 3.37 percent against the dollar since Jan. 1. "
