Not a day passes without the unofficial candidate for the French presidency, Nicholas Sarkozy, saying the enlargement needs to be halted and the countries-in-waiting for European Union membership be given 'privileged partnership' status instead. The German Christian Democrats are said to be the ones that created this so-called concept, but the party’s public documents give no idea about what such a partnership means. "
