Iran expressed hope yesterday that the decades-old Cyprus deadlock could be resolved through negotiations.
�As Iran, we are taking steps with regard to the Cyprus issue within the framework of U.N. rules and approved resolutions,� said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi during a press conference yesterday, in response to a question about a package of proposals announced by Turkey last week for a resolution of the Cyprus problem."
