WASHINGTON The Turkish Army has been under attack recently - from Europeans who see it as an obstacle to Turkey's reform process. For the most part, these attacks miss the crucial positive role that Turkey's army has actually been playing in the process.
The traditionally westward-looking Turkish military has always staunchly supported Turkey's modernization, including the push for membership of the European Union, but certain EU reform demands present it with a dilemma."
