"Austria: EU talks with Turkey could start in first half of 2006

Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel said yesterday that the European Union could start actual membership negotiations with Turkey in the first half of 2006.
�If the European Commission drafts positive reports, talks with Turkey and Croatia will start in the first half of the year,� Schuessel said at a press conference after laying out Austria's priorities for the start of its six-month EU presidency to EU lawmakers."
