ANKARA, Feb. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu resigned from his post and from Prime Minister Recep Erdogan's political party on Tuesday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Mumcu, who left the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) led by Erdogan, became the first minister to leave the government since it took power more than two years ago.
Mumcu said he had sent his resignation to the prime minister.
Turkish sources said Mumcu had political differences with Erdogan.
Mumcu once acted as vice chairman of the Motherland Party (ANAP) and joined in the AK Party later. He was at first appointed education minister but became tourism minister after the cabinet was reshuffled in 2003. Enditem"
