The Greek Cypriot government has criticised as 'politically incorrect' today's arrival of a US commercial mission in the unrecognised Turkish Cypriot republic in north Cyprus.

The US mission plans to advise Turkish Cypriot companies on raising finance, finding new markets and building strategic partnerships with foreign investors. It is part of a drive by Washington to reduce the economic isolation of north Cyprus and promote the island's reunification.
'Closing the economic gap will help pave the way to a sustainable settlement,' said Michael Klosson, US ambassador to Cyprus. 'We are confident that by investing in the Turkish Cypriot economy we are making an investment in the whole of Cyprus.'"
