"EU Delegation: Let Parliament Solve the Headscarf Issue

The European Parliament's (EP) Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality spokesperson Emine Bozkurt said that the headscarf issue is Turkey's internal problem.
In discussions with the delegations in Turkey, Bozkurt said the Committee does not approve an intervention channeled through the EU on the issue. The ten-member Committee have been holding talks in Turkey. Committee members met with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Deputy Minister for Women, Family and Children Guldal Aksit on February 1 and held a news conference at the Ankara Hilton Hotel. "
