Turkish delight has soured after last night�s offer from European leaders of a start date for talks on the country's EU membership. Despite a wait of over 40 years for the decision, Ankara has said that it is �disappointed� by the deal.
Membership negotiations will kick off next October, while the UK holds the EU Presidency, EU leaders announced yesterday. �Tonight the EU has opened its door to Turkey,� Commission President Jos� Manuel Barroso said.
However, the talks are likely to last more than ten years and test Ankara�s determination to become part of the bloc. "
