"Muslim MEP Hails EU Backing for Turkey

Britain�s only Muslim Euro MP tonight welcomed new backing for Turkey�s membership of the European Union.
Liberal Democrat Saj Karim said European Parliament support sent a powerful signal that the EU was not a "Christian club".
He added: "It is a union based on democratic values, not on religion. MEPs have recognised the big strides forward that Turkey has taken on human rights and modernisation of its constitution.""
