Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The European Union must vote to start membership talks with Turkey immediately and without attaching more conditions when its leaders meet tomorrow in Brussels, Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said.
Turkey is concerned Europe's leaders will demand that it take extra steps not included in the EU's political criteria for membership, including recognizing Cyprus as a state, before the talks can start. Such demands would be unacceptable, Gul said.
``We have done what the EU demanded of us, now it's the turn of the leaders of the European Union to fulfill their end of the bargain,'' Gul said at a televised news conference at Ankara's Esenboga airport before departing for Brussels. "
