"Turks proclaim exclusive rights to baklava
ISTANBUL, Turkey, May 12 (UPI) -- Turkish baklava producers are planning a march Saturday in Istanbul protesting claims that the sweet dessert is a Greek Cypriot creation.
Protesters will carry banners proclaiming 'Baklava is Turkish. We will not allow the Greek Cypriots to feed it to the world,' Hurriyet reported.
'Baklava is Turkish; what the Greek Cypriots are presenting is just a copy,' said Halil Dincerler, owner of renowned baklava company, Haci Sayid Baklava."
