The patient among my readers will recall that I've been struggling with the concept of �canon� in recent columns and last explored a concept of my own invention, the �Minnesota Canon.� I left with a promise to introduce the painter LeRoy Neiman. For Neiman, you see, is generally acknowledged to be the living bearer of the �American Canon,� and is, in fact, the most collected artist in America. A further point of interest is that this American �Great� is, in fact, a Turk."
