17:22 - 11 November 2005 - The National Bank of Greece, besides having expressed interest in acquiring banks in Romania and Serbia, also contemplates to expand to Turkey, not independently, but most likely through a possible cooperation with Citigroup.
NBG examines the possibility of cooperating with a foreign bank, given the fact that a potential acquisition of a Turkish bank will most likely fail due to political and ethnic reasons existing among Turkish consumers."
