The Turkish public at large is not aware of the innumerable prerequisites necessary for this country to fulfill prior to being fully accepted as an EU member.
For example, as of today, if I happen to land the necessary amount of money, I could rent a store and turn it into a restaurant with no training, no obligation, no education on food production, and no one will question me about it. I would have no knowledge of safety standards, food temperature, storing restrictions, etc. It has been this way for hundreds of years and continues as such in present-day Turkey. Prior to EU accession, education will have had to be completed, certificates obtained, set standards will need to be met and restrictions will need to be followed before an entrepreneur is considered �eligible� to open up a cafeteria or restaurant."
