Istanbul, 19 August (AKI) - Pope Benedict XVI - head of the Catholic church - will visit Turkey on 28-30 November, according to the Turkish daily Milliyet. If confirmed, the visit would come as a reassurance to the Turkish population of the Vatican's efforts in inter-religious dialogue and its support for the country's EU membership bid. Before becoming pope, Benedict XVI had stated that Turkey should seek union with other Muslim nations rather that join the [predominantly Christian] EU. His appointment as pontiff had therefore received a chilly reception in Turkey. "
