Philip Gordon's article "Cyprus is a poor excuse for turning away Turkey" (Views, Aug. 18) is very much biased. The Republic of Cyprus, and not the "Greek Cypriot" government, became a full member of the EU in May 2004, having all the rights of EU membership. That a candidate country, Turkey, is unwilling to recognize a member state of a club that it wants to join is beyond logic."
