Istanbul 2020: Volleyball Olympic berth makes history for Turkish sport

May 8 – The Turkish women’s volleyball team made history as they secured their first Olympic qualification in Ankara for the London 2012 Games.
Istanbul 2020 ambassador Neslihan Darnel helped lead the team to rank 11th in the world and encouraged them in this key qualification. The team is known as the ‘Sultans of the net’ and this marks the second time Turkey will participate in team sports at the Games.
