"Turkish parliament to meet to pass more reforms for EU

ISTANBUL, Turkey Turkey's parliament convened two weeks early on Tuesday to begin voting on reforms, including the strengthening of minority rights, as the government tries to deflect EU criticism that the pace of change has slowed.
In Brussels, meanwhile, the European Commission said Tuesday it was delaying discussion of a key progress report on Turkey's bid to join the European Union that was to take place Oct. 24. A spokeswoman said the decision to push back the discussion by two weeks, to Nov. 8, was the result of a scheduling problem."
