According to a research made in seven big cities, 62 % of the population consider themselves 'happy'. The happiest city is Izmir.

Althought the picure of happiness could not be drawn; researchers have indexed happiness of people residing in seven biggest cities of Turkey. According to a research made on 1000 people in seven big cities, despite everything, Turkish people are happy. 62 % of Turkish people wake up in a new day feeling happy. According to results, Izmir is the happiest city of Turkey while Adana is the unhappiest district. Only 48 5 of Adana residents stated that they are happy. Another result shows that Turkish people began forgetting traditional tastes such as famous Turkish deserts. It turned out Turkish people feel happier when they eat ice cream and chocolate. Ironically, old people feel happier than young ones. 72 % of the people over 50 years old feel happy. This ratio is only 57 % among those who are between the ages 25 and 29."
