"CHP grills govt over claims of secret US-Turkish accord

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) over the weekend brought up claims regarding a secret agreement in 2003 between Turkey and the U.S. about Turkish forces not intervening in northern Iraq.
CHP Izmir Deputy Erdal Karademir submitted a question motion asking whether there was a secret agreement in 2003 between Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul and then U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell about Turkey promising not to carry out a cross-border operation into northern Iraq and Mt. Kandil where the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is based.
