The Cyprus Automobile Association has expressed surprise that Turkish Grand Prix officials escaped with only a monetary penalty for the controversial podium incident following this year's race.
Event organisers were hauled before the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Tuesday morning to explain why Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat was introduced as the ‘President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ – a de facto breakaway state – during the prize-giving ceremony."
