"ODTU students shower Sezer in applause; no sign of usual protests
In an unusual show of support, students at Turkey's renowned Middle Eastern Technical University (ODTU) in Ankara stood to applaud President Ahmet Necdet Sezer yesterday when he made an appearance on campus.
ODTU students have been known for their vociferious opposition to appearances by various political figures on campus before, booing everyone from former President Suleyman Demirel to the head of the main opposition CHP Party, Deniz Baykal. President Sezer's appearance at ODTU yesterday was to help inguarate the start of the 2006-2007 academic year."
