Angela Merkel, the Prime Minister of Germany, visited the Hurriyet offices in Frankfurt yesterday to attend ceremonies commemorating the 10th anniversary of 'Euro D,' the voice of Turks living in Europe. Speaking with Aydin Dogan, the chairman of the board of Hurriyet's parent company, Dogan Holding, Chancellor Merkel noted that the Turkish media had played an important role in the harmonization of Turks into Germany, and asserted 'I am a friend of Turkey.' "
