"Turkish-born politician attacked in Berlin

BERLIN, Germany (AP) -- A Turkish-born Berlin state politician was hospitalized after being hit on the head with a bottle by two men in an apparent anti-foreigner attack, police said Saturday.
Giyasettin Sayan, 56, was attacked in his district of Lichtenberg on Friday night by assailants who used an anti-Turkish epithet when they hit him. He was treated in hospital for a concussion and bruises, police said.
Sayan, a naturalized German who has lived in the country since the 1970s, is a member of Berlin's ex-communist Left Party."
