"American woman finds Istanbul a true Turkish delight
By John Bordsen
Charlotte (N.C.) Observer

What's it like to live in a far-off place most of us see only on a vacation? Foreign Correspondence is an interview with someone who lives in a spot you may want to visit.

Anastasia Ashman, 41, is a writer and editor in Istanbul, Turkey, where she has lived for three years. She and Jennifer Gokmen are co-editors of 'Tales from the Expat Harem,' a travel anthology by foreign women in Turkey ($15.95, Seal Press), to be released this month. Between AD 330 and 1918, Istanbul, formerly known as Constantinople, was the capital of the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Turk empires. Ashman is a native of California."
