"US Seeks Ankara's Help to Prevent Civil War in Iraq
US Senate Defense Commission Chairman John Warner said the threat of a potential civil war in Iraq from sectarian clashes continues, and asked the Ankara administration’s help in relieving tensions in the region.
In Ankara on official business, Warner and the delegation accompanying him met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday. In a press conference following talks, the US Senator said he believes Iraq is not facing an impending civil war with the recent clashes in the country, but emphasized 'this does not mean it will not turn into a civil war in the future.'"
