There are still reforms to be made in the European Union (EU) to reap fully the benefits of the Single Market. Because the Single Market could not be completed totally yet although the Single European Act proposed its completion in 1992. There are still barriers in the European Union for the free movement of services. The famous Bolkestein directive (named by its architect, the former Commissioner for the Internal Market, Frits Bolkestein) is a direcitve on services in the internal market which is considered to provide an integrated services market in Europe.
