It's good to be read. It's even better to receive feedback from readers that is constructive and illuminating and that provokes further thought on the subject with which we dealt. The overwhelming amount of letters I receive these days deal for the most part with �insults to Islam� and �the right to protest,� and many protest my condemnation of demonstrations in some Islamic countries for turning wild while failing to �adequately condemn� the blasphemous caricatures depicting the Prophet Mohammed in the Western media. One reader went to the extreme of claiming that �in trying to defend freedom of expression� I am attempting to �justify� and �legitimize� the publication of the cartoons."
