Turk said there are 472 variations of the name ‘Turk’ and that he had prepared a list of 50,000 names by examining around 90,000 documents from old and new archives

Surnames derived from the word �Turk� have expanded throughout five continents, said American researcher Dr. Toni Richard Turk.
Every citizen of Turkey was obliged to take a family name in line with the Family Name Law, adopted by Parliament on June 21, 1934."
