FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS

"FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS
By Haji Mike

OPPOSITION BEING THE MAINSTREAM: each time DISY opposition politician Averoff Neophytou speaks, I wonder if he considers the ramifications. By using every opportunity to bow down to the populism of ‘The People voted NO’, he seems to be playing into the hands of the very people his party opposed by voting ‘YES’.

Another example is his recent ‘enlightening’ outburst that the government is not united on granting citizenship to offspring of mixed Turkish Cypriot and Turkish marriages. Well surprise, surprise, I am sure DISY is not united on this matter either. Andreas Christou is a bold Interior Minister for backing the policy, and if anything is simply trying to deal with one of the most controversial aspects of the Cyprus problem. So its one thing to be in opposition but another to be the Opposition.

FASKI-ANTI-FASKI: a vernacular term for people who switch policies from day to day not considering the consequences. I was shocked to see the report that money with stamped numerals from casinos in north Cyprus would not be accepted at banks. OK, this came to my attention through a rather over-dramatised and bias TV news report, where the reporter went to a bank and re-enacted a rather ‘fake’ situation. "
