Karşı daily releases legal wiretap transcript concerning Urla villas
Audio recordings purportedly between now-President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and businessman Mustafa Latif Topbaş on clandestine arrangements to construct villas in İzmir's Urla district -- which both men denied on the grounds that the tapes were dubbed and/or doctored -- were wiretapped legally as part of a corruption investigation made public on Dec. 17, 2013, the Karşı daily has reported, publishing official documents from the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB), which is the state institution authorized to conduct surveillance in investigations.
