"Ergenekon probe deepens with discretionary funds allegations
Police conducted investigations at many locations in Istanbul and Ankara related to retired general and arrested Ergenekon suspect Levent Ersöz on Tuesday evening.
The anti-organized crime division of the police simultaneously searched nine locations in Ankara and two in Istanbul. The locations are reported to be related to people close to Ergün. Ersöz’s lawyer denied Tuesday that the search operations were about the recent allegations of the misuse of discretionary funds in the 90s, allegedly used for buying surveillance equipment that cost billions of Turkish Liras. The allegations were accepted on Wednesday."
