By Habibe KADER, USAK Friday , 05 October 2007 * Turkey will be the giant economy of the Middle East, Balkans and the Caucasia with the EU membership or without the EU. Turkey nowadays experiences significant socio-economic changes. Historically this change was started with the transformation from agriculture country to the industry country and also from this stand point to the technology and service-sector country. This can be evaluated as a first step of the recent transformation. Obviously while the proportion of manufacturing sector has increased significantly, the proportion of the agriculture on the contrary decreased between the 1950s-1990s."
