"Turkey among top five developing countries in attracting FDI
Turkey was among the top five developing countries that attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) last year, receiving a total of $20 billion for 2006.
According to the FDI 2006 report released by the Treasury, global FDI reached a peak level of $1.4 trillion in 2000. After 2000, FDI declined until 2003, after which it began to rise again in 2004. Global FDI increased by 27 percent in 2004, when compared to the previous year. In 2005, FDI increased by a total of 29 percent. The report predicts a tendency for increased FDI, acquisitions and mergers alongside global economic growth and the increased profitability of companies involved."
