German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country currently holds the term presidency of the European Union, said close ties between Turkey and the EU would benefit everyone. In an interview with the Greek daily Kathimerini, Merkel also said Germany would implement EU measures aimed at easing the economic isolation imposed on Turkish Cypriots in northern Cyprus. "
