"'Over half of women in Van are victims of abuse'

Over half of women in the southeastern province of Van are subjected to violence of some kind, according to a new study.
Speaking to the Anatolia news agency yesterday, Van Women's Association (VAKAD) head Zozan Ozgokce said their survey aimed to determine the gender roles and perceptions of violence among women and was carried out among 766 women, 590 of whom are married, aged 15-60. Ozgokce explained the pool was conducted in 23 neighborhoods and targeted four different groups: Wives of self-employed men; women with a high socioeconomic status; working women; and women who have migrated to the province."
